When is it advisable to have my wisdom teeth removed?
Although your wisdom teeth may be in good condition, the risk of decay and infection is higher if you do not know exactly what state your teeth are in. Regular check-ups are therefore recommended, so that your dentist can assess the condition of your wisdom teeth.
In general, we recommend removing wisdom teeth before they become a problem that is harder to treat: improper growth, excessive pressure on the rest of the teeth or an increased risk of decay. We recommend wisdom tooth extraction to avoid future problems and to minimise the risks associated with the procedure. It is better to book your wisdom tooth extraction while they are not yet causing urgent problems.

How can you look after yourself at home after the procedure?
Local swelling and pain may occur. This is completely normal. Here are some useful tips for care and healing after wisdom tooth extraction:
- use ice packs to reduce the swelling; the swelling will subside after 2-3 days.
- take the medication recommended by your doctor as instructed
- Avoid alcoholic, carbonated, caffeinated or hot drinks for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid hard, chewy, hot and spicy foods, as these can irritate the incision.
- Do not rinse your mouth, use mouthwash or brush your teeth for the first 24 hours.
- Do not smoke for at least 72 hours after the procedure, as this can affect the healing process and lead to complications.
How is wisdom tooth extraction carried out?
Before the procedure:
- Do not eat or drink.
- Please inform the Ilyés Dental Clinic of any medication you are taking.
